Ki Powers
- Please Audience: A Focussed Power. The Entertainer can increase the On and ammount of coinage gained for a performance by up to the effect number. Current Ki is reduced by the effect number used.
- Misdirect: A Focussed Power. The Entertainer can impose distractions on anybody. This can be used in combat, or when attempting to perform a hidden action. In combat the number of distractions imposed is up to the effect number, and these distractions may be saved against in the usual way. In hiding an action the effect number is subtracted from the WIT ST of the victim. in either case current Ki is reduced by the effect number used.
- Memory: The Entertainer's KI is used as a BCS to remember a very impressive line of poetry, apt quotation, stunning riposte etc. E.g. a suitable quote may be enough to sway a Daimyo from an execution ordered in a moment of anger. Hopefully the GM will ensure that use of this power does contribute in a real fashion, and in the furtherance of the characters ends, but you never know for sure.
Performances
- Are usually one of two kinds: improvised, impromtu exibitions usually given by the roadside; or planned rehearsed dramas performed in a theatre or home.
- Roadside Performances: Gain On and copper pieces equal to the effect number of the appropriate art.
- Theatre Performances: These are perfomances of pieces that first have to be learned. GM must assign a Task Point value to specific works. task points can be accumulated daily, with the appropriate skill or averaging of skills; a Noh Drama may have 100 Task Points, accumulated using average of [Monomane (Acting)] and [Kagaku (Court Dance)]. The Biwa part in same Drama may be 50 Task Points (accumulated in Biwa obviously). Individual dramas, and the various parts in them, must be learned seperately. Once learned they can be performed at any time and will earn the Entertainers On and cash, in coppers, as follows: (Total Task Points for all parts/100 + Total effect numbers of all performers) x Level of troupe leader. Costs are: between 1 and 5 silvers for the theatre, and a copper per level per for each performer.
- Sleight of Hand: Entertainers can palm small objects etc. with a DFT ST. The effect number, positive or negative, is subtracted from the viewers WIT ST, but viewers only get a ST if they are watching the entertainer closely to try and see how it is being done.
Budo for Entertainers
- Budo is earned from combat as usual, as well as from performances.
- Roadside Performance: Budo earned .1 x Entertainer's level
- Theatre Performance: Budo earned .5 x Entertainer's level
- Sleight of Hand: As Roadside Performance unless it it used to advance him significantly in the campaign when it's as a Theatre Performance.
